Alpha Strike Demo Army

Here is my demo kit Liao Lance, made entirely out of Mechs from the BattleTech Boxed Set so anyone can recreate it for easy play. The new Beginner Box also includes a Vindicator which is a traditional Liao 'Mech, so I decided to make a second lance using that miniature. Also shown are some old Fifth Edition minis that I tested the point job on, and a new UrbanMech I painted because I wanted to. I take this demo army to D6 in Rochester, MN on the first Friday of each month when doing demos.

For painting the minis, I started with an Army Painter matte white spray base, and covered it with an Army Painter Glitter Green paint from the Metallic Colours Paint Set. Highlights come from a really old pot of Citadel Chaos Black I've been nursing along for decades. The base is an old Iron Wind Metals Leather with Citadel Rhinox Hide highlights. I finished the paint job with a mix of Reaper Red, Brown, and Grey Liners diluted in something like a 1 to 20 drop ratio with common water. It gives the minis a weathered look and fills the cracks to highlight the panels. Each lance usually takes me around four days to paint, spending 10 minutes or so at a time and letting them dry between sessions. And yes, these minis have paint from four different companies and three decades or so on them. And two of them have been out of production for over a decade, but modern replacements should get similar results. :)

Due to the 5 'Mechs chosen, I made two 150 point lances, to act as cores of the Liao army.

Here are the PDFs for the army, 200 point and 350 versions. Note that these are based on the original 350 tournament rules and do not follow the faction and era guidelines added to the 350 2.0 tournament rules, so are not appropriate for official tournaments. They are great demo and teaching armies though, and the second page of the 350 army can be shared with all of the other 350 armies I have designed.
